![]() | Being a serious and picky gardener with, what I think, is an attractive and successful (yes, I'm bragging) yard I hope you won't mind if I make a couple comments on your request for gardening services. About one year ago I engaged Perfect Landscapes for mowing, trimming, insect control, and mulching. They have a smorgasbord approach in that each year they send out a contract of sorts where you can choose what services you want for the following year (all the way from only mowing to weekly maintenance). Here are the results I experienced on the services I selected: Very good job on mowing/edging/trimming, good job on insect control (they subcontract to Thrive who uses organic sprays sparingly), mulching was just OK--(I hate mulch and do not intend to use it next year). I did not care for the type of mulch they used and prefer the wide use of ground covers and spreading plants. You can check them out at www.Perfectlandscapes.com. Generally, I find them to be very professional and respond quickly to additional requests or complaints (we lost a tree to a storm in June and they came the next day to take care of it).But here's the thing--most good companies must rely on customers who use their services on a consistent ongoing basis. Also, by using a company regularly you will get higher quality service. Maintaining an attractive yard/garden requires regular attention and hard work. Even though I use Perfect Landscapes for some things I still must spend several hours weekly pruning, planting, fertilizing, deadheading, watering container plants etc. Trimming and weeding cannot be done once or twice during the growing season with the expectation that a garden will thrive. Please don't take my comments as lecturing--it’s just that as someone who has maintained yards in many parts of the country (Oregon, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Loudoun County), I have come to understand both the joys and demands of gardening. Companies that offer mowing/edging trimming services do not necessarily have the ability to weed, prune or otherwise maintain yards. Further, they cannot make a sufficient profit on "occasional" jobs to make it pay--they do better by sticking to the basics. Most people want such services at a "reasonable" price which further squeezes the company forcing the work to be done quickly by inadequately trained personnel and in a less than acceptable manner. The best work is done by an experienced, well-run company that charges market rates (meaning they can make a profit) and has developed a loyal customer base. I realize that not everyone is going to get a thrill out of maintain an attractive yard, but believe me, it feels mighty good to look out the window or walk out on the patio early in the morning and see thriving trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables (yes, even on a small Brambleton lot I have tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and many herbs). I find that "digging in the dirt" is therapeutic, extremely rewarding and my ego is well massaged by the many passersby who stop to compliment me on my hard work (corner of Regal Wood/Highcrest Circle across from the community center where there is lots of foot traffic). As you can see I am very free with advice (sorry for the novel) ![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Teresa Brambleton |

![]() | This is my second favorable review for Perfect Landscapes in approximately 3 years. Originally, they were doing just my landscaping and mowing, but I have added services to include landscape lighting, irrigation including deck baskets, and snow removal. Today I share my experience with landscape lighting. PL installed 3 tree spots, 3 walkway lanterns, 4 house spots covering both sides of the house and crossing the driveway. I am very pleased with the enhancement to my home. Moreover, since the installation they have done minor service work (i.e. replace burnt bulbs). It is particularly pleasant that whenever there is a problem I have access to the ever accommodating and pleasant owner - Christian Brown. Happy Holidays!![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Jeffrey Dlott N Reston, Va |
![]() | This company removed some plastic sheeting under mulch, replaced the mulch, selected and planted a variety of bushes and built a 20 foot stone retaining wall. Overall, the job was well done for a reasonable price (not super low). The stone retaining wall has actually drawn praise from strangers stopping by to ask who did the work.Initially, the wall was not done quite right, because the supervisor was on vacation. He made it right upon his return. The landscaping was well done except we did not like the placement of the bushes. The company readily moved the bushes as requested.![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Jeffrey Shapiro West Mclean, Va |
![]() | I used Perfect Landscapes because I saw that they were being utilized in my neighborhood and when I went on Angie’s List they had nothing but good things to say about them...and boy were they right. Christian the owner came out and took a look at my backyard. I wanted to do some medium-type renovations including putting a stone wall, resurfacing the grass (sod), leveling and a path. My back yard was in pretty rough shape when we bought this place. They designed something out, something that I had in mind anyways which helped. Every day on the job site these guys were here at 8 sharp and left when the sun went down. They did a good job picking up after themselves too. I was so impressed ill be using them for my annual lawn service and had asked Christian about installing a sprinkler system, which he referred me to Hydro-Tech Irrigation, which ill be writing a review on in approx. 10 minutes. Another flawless experience however. I would def recommend Perfect Landscapes. I travel a lot and am constantly on my blackberry and was surprised myself as to how quickly Christian would get back to me. You hear stories about never hearing back for any follow up but he was all over it. Good job guys!![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Christopher Greenlaw Herndon, Va |
![]() | Perfect Landscapes is an excellent company to work with. Their prices are very reasonable and the quality of their work is very good. We had a few minor issues with a couple of the lighting fixtures, and Rob was diligent about coming back to adjust them until we were satisfied.![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Elizabeth Bley North Reston Va |
![]() | Christian (company owner) met with my wife and I at our new home to discuss ideas for landscaping our entire yard and building a flagstone wall for our front porch garden. Christian's ideas and automated IS resources were key in creating a beautiful landscape design. Christian proved to be knowledgable and realiable as well as a man of his word. As with any construction project there are challenges along the way. Christian and his project lead addressed each challenge with me to ensure both my wife and I were satified with the landscaping. Very good company with accountable leadership.![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Howard Ashburn, VA |
![]() | Robert from perfect landscape was very responsive. He made time in his schedule to come out right away and give us an estimate as he knew we were anxious to get started with our project. Robert was professional and knowledgable. He sent a very detailed estimate within 2 business days. He was extra great because we had to have him revise it several times (due to changes and concerns on our part) and he was so patient about it! We had bids from 2 other companies and decided to go with perfect landscape because we trusted Robert and felt confident with his detailed proposal that we would get what we asked for. Their price was reasonable and in the ball park of the other estimates we got and even a little lower. Our project was very big as we had sod installed in the front and back yard so the ground had to be smoothed out. The two men that did the job were very friendly and hard working. Robert was an excellent liason and any questions or concerns we had along the way he was always there to reassure us that we would be pleased with the finished product. It can be stressful to see your yard ripped apart for a few days, but Robert was so prompt on answering any questions we had. Robert even worked with our irrigation company to make sure that the timing of the sod and irrigation lined up just right. The end product is simply amazing! Our yard looks so beautiful and we could not be more pleased that we chose perfect landscape. We our happy to have found a landscaping company that we can trust and will will definitely use them in the future for all of our landscaping needs. Robert truly went above and beyond and so did the crew. Thank you perfect landscapes! ![]() Date of Posting: Posted By: Jessica Storm RESTON, VA 20194 |
